Finding a place to dine with a serene ambiance is a bliss nowadays. Restaurant, food park and cafes today are usually crowded and a bit rowdy that a quiet time alone while dining or studying while enjoying a cup of coffee is impossible.




In Antipolo City, Travel Eat Pinas spotted a cafe that has a quiescent milieu and they call the latter Monte Cafe.





Monte Cafe was established in February 2014 by Ms. Aleli Lukban. She derived the name of the cafe from the mountains that surrounds Antipolo City.


Monte Cafe is located at Manuel L. Quezon Extension, Antipolo, Rizal.





HOW TO GO:


From Ortigas Extension, Pasig City

1. Ride a jeepney going to Morong. Fare costs PHP 17.00.
2. Alight at L. Sumulong Memorial Circle.
3. Ride a tricycle going to Manuel L. Quezon Extension. Fare costs PHP 12.00.
4. Alight at City Walk Building.


The cafe has a homey and relaxing ambiance. It has an artsy, hipster and earth tone interior design that resembles what you can see in the mountains.









Aside from the cafe's ambiance, Monte is also know for its comfort dishes and signature beverages such as their Seafood Marinara, Monte Clubhouse, Iced Mint Tea with Calamansi and Cafe latte.




SEAFOOD MARINARA





Monte Cafe's Seafood Marinara has al dente  linguine pasta, mussels, juicy shrimps, squid, fresh tomatoes, well seasoned tomato sauce and chili. This pasta is oozing with seafood flavor and has a trace of sweet and sour flavor coming from the sauce. Seafood Marinara costs PHP 180.00 per serving.



MONTE CLUBHOUSE




Monte Clubhouse  has bacon,  ham, egg, tomato and cheddar in between toasted wheat bread. It is served with potato chip and gravy. Ingredients inside this clubhouse blend perfectly with each other. The gravy is oozing with spices and the potato chips are crunchy. Monte Clubhouse costs PHP 175.00 per serving.



ICED MINT TEA WITH CALAMANSI





Iced Mint Tea with Calamansi is a refreshing and relaxing drink. On the first sip, this beverage will give you a sour taste but as you continuously drink the former you will taste its sweet, earthy and minty flavor. This beverage tastes deliciously weird and addictive. Iced Mint Tea with Calamansi costs PHP 100.00.



CAFE LATTE






Like the usual cafe latte, Monte Cafe's cafe latte has milk and espresso but Monte's espresso is perfectly brewed and you can savor its strong flavor in every sip. Cafe Latte costs PHP 100.00 and PHP 115.00.


Aside from their cafe in Antipolo, Monte  Cafe can also provide Coffee Bars on parties and other events. Packages starts at PHP 10,000- 15,000 per 100 cups.


Monte Cafe is open from Monday to Sunday 11:00 AM to 11:00 PM.

CRESCENT MOON CAFE: ART, FOOD and NATURE

ART, FOOD, and NATURE, this are the three elements that can sum up ANTIPOLO. Over the years, different establishments were built in Antipolo to provide Filipinos this three elements. Some build museums that show the creativity of Filipinos while others created restaurants that bear breathtaking view of nature and the metro.

Among all these establishments in Antipolo, we found one cafe that can provide this three elements in one sitting- Crescent Moon Cafe.




Crescent Moon Cafe is located at L. Sumulong Memorial Circle, Sitio Parugan, Dalig, Antipolo.

From Shaw Boulevard, Mandaluyong City

1. Ride a jeepney going to Morong.
2. Alight in Rizal Provincial Hospital System Antipolo Annex II.
3. Walk until you reach Sapang Buho.
4. Turn right to Sapang Buho.

1. Board in 13th Avenue or P. Tuazon Blvd a jeepney going to Rosario.

Crescent Moon Cafe is the brainchild of the late Chef Bey Fernando. Chef Bey is the husband of the artist and ceramist Lanelle Abueva-Fernando. He is a lawyer by profession and loves to cook. In 1997, Chef Bey together with his wife Lanelle opened a restaurant and a pottery studio and named it after their children's make-believe restaurant, "Crescent Moon Cafe."





Entering the Cafe is like an escape from the hustle and bustle metro. Luscious trees and bushes surround the area. A koi pond, that was once a World War II bomb crater, together with the trees and bushes at the back of the cafe serves as a panoramic view of nature, a paradise in the middle of the city.









The cafe has a serene ambiance with the vibrant and artsy decor. Pots and ceramics made by Lanelle line up in the corners of the cafe.





A buffet table is placed near the entrance of the cafe. Asian cuisine and the cafe's staple dishes are served in the buffet.



All dishes serve in Crescent Moon Cafe incorporate the natural flavors of their ingredients. They shy away from preservative and enhancer because Chef Bey wants each of their guests to smell the real aroma and taste the true flavors of the dishes that they serve.


Among the staple dishes of Crescent Moon Cafe is Alagao Appetizer. Alagao Appetizer is Chef Bey's version of the famous Thai street food, Miang Kham. It is composed of basil, dried coconut, chili, ginger, green mango, onion, shrimp, sweet peanut sauce and alagao leaf. You can mix and match the fillings of the alagao leaf depending on your preference.





Another staple dish of Crescent Moon is the Pumpkin Coconut Soup. The soup is creamy with a tinge of sweetness coming from the pumpkin. It has bits of coconut meat that added texture to the soup.


Along with the staple dishes of the Cafe is Chicken Wings with Mulberry Mayo Dip. The chicken is seasoned well and has a crunchy breading. The meat is tender and has a tinge of sweet flavor. The dip, on the other hand, has a sour and fruity taste.




Along with the chicken wings is the Pork Indian Curry. This dish is oozing with flavor and spices. It has tender and juicy meat. This dish of Crescent Moon Cafe is definitely a MUST TRY!




For vegans, they also serve Stir Fried Glass Noodles and Vegetables. The noodles are al dente while the vegetables are crunchy. This dish has a flavorful and distinct taste.


A visit in Crescent Moon Cafe is not complete without savoring the famous Suman or rice cake of Antipolo. They have two varieties, first is Suman with Manga and the second is the Black Suman.


Suman with Manga is served with a slender shaped rice cake wrapped in banana leaf and a slice of ripe mango. The Suman is well cooked, has a tinge of sweet taste and perfectly blend when eaten with mango.





On the other hand, the Black Suman is served with black sticky rice, drizzled with coconut sauce and topped with adobong casoy. This suman is sweet and full of texture coming from the casoy and the black rice. Black Suman has a mixture of sweet and salty taste.





Aside from their all natural and delectable dishes, Crescent Moon Cafe also provide great service to their guests. The staff, chef and the owners of the cafe always make sure that each guest is served well. Every now and then, they visit the table of their guests to check their needs.


Crescent Moon Cafe is open from Wednesday to Sunday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The lunch buffet is served from 11:30 AM to 2:00 PM. Guests are advised to call or send a message to the Cafe a day or two before visiting the latter because they value the freshness of each ingredient that they put on their dishes.

Mix Boodle of Tata Boy's has Bagoong Rice, boneless Bangus, Liempo, Shrimp, Tahong and Bagoong with Manga. It is served in the traditional style of Philippine Military Academy buffet wherein the food is spread over a banana leaf and eaten with bare hands. This meal is good for 2-3 person and costs PHP 599.
